Team work makes the Dream work

Nairobi’s Britam Tower is phenomenal. The building that stands at 660ft dwarfs every other erected building in the Republic of Kenya. This architectural wonder must have cost an arm and a leg. A host of personnel endowed with building technology must have been brought in to offer the expertise that saw the building complete.

Any successful building project draws in expertise from various disciplines. This includes architects, land surveyors, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and many more. The building will not be complete without plumbers, painters, masons, carpenters and interior designers.

Apparently, approvals from relevant authorities must have been obtained before the commencement of building activities. The corresponding government regulator must give the architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing and sanitary drawings green light.

Interestingly, all these professionals need each other. This feat can never be a one-person show. The mix of skills, knowledge and experience guarantees a product that survives the taste of time and weathers extreme environmental elements.

Rebuilding the Temple

The Book of Nehemiah 3, gives a blow by blow account of the work of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. The author lists various persons and the sections of the wall they worked on. These persons had groups of people they were working with to ensure the work is completed. From the Chapter, it appears that no one was left behind. Every non-disabled Jew participated. In fact, with time, we find some of them taking military positions as the works continued. They were to stay alert as Sanballat and his friends plotted evil. We encounter this in Chapter 4.

I believe that is how we are supposed to live as Christians. We should live knowing that all the believers are essential in the kingdom of God. Each has a role to play in this grand Kingdom. The synergy born of a unity of purpose and togetherness ensures we accomplish much. We have to learn to appreciate what the Lord is doing in His Kingdom by realising that every believer has a niche that he or she can excellently fit in.

It is imperative to know that there is something you can do in the Kingdom of God. The gifting God has given us freely are many and diverse and should be used to the glory of God and the edification of the Church.

It would be interesting to hear your opinion.

“Like a sculptor, if necessary, carve a friend out of stone. Realise that your inner sight is blind and try to see a treasure in everyone.”
